International companies make a tremendous financial investment in moving executives around the world. Expatriate executives and their families make a significant investment of energy and emotion in moving internationally. Everyone involved would like to see an excellent return on their investment, e.g.
- The executives themselves ‘get up to speed quickly’ in each new assignment. Their international expertise benefits the global organization. Succession planning works for the organization and the individual.
- The expatriate partners/spouses take the opportunity to continue to develop both professionally and personally. The family views expatriation in general as a positive experience. Family relationships are strengthened through the experience of moving internationally.
I coach expatriate executives, their bosses and their HR partners on maximizing the investment for everyone involved.
Sample assignments
Coached a top talent country manager from an international manufacturing firm on career planning issues. He was being asked to take on a global functional head role on another continent just as his wife had finally taken her business to a new level in the current location and their two young children were settling in nicely. They made the move. He blossomed quickly in the new position. She received some assistance from the company to set up her business in the new location. They were able to find a good home close to an excellent school for the children.
